Anfield Lodge

Anfield Lodge Logo
Biography:

Anfield Lodge has a long-standing affiliation with football in the city, including both Everton and Liverpool FC. The Lodge was founded in 1887, and the founder members of Anfield Lodge 2215 included John Houlding. In 1884, the club moved to a pitch at Anfield Road, which was bought by Houlding for £6000. Changing facilities were situated in the Sandon Hotel, which was the first meeting place of Anfield Lodge. In 1888, the club was a founding member of the Football League. In 1891, Houlding raised the rent, leading to great acrimony and culminating in Everton moving to nearby Goodison Park, which was purchased for £8000 in 1892. When they moved to their own ground at Goodison Park, Houlding filled the vacancy at Anfield by creating a new football team: Liverpool FC. Of the original six directors of the club, four were Freemasons.

Beamish Lodge

Lodge number: 3869

Close
Beamish Lodge Logo
Biography:

The Lodge had planned to surrender it’s warrant and a rescue team was established to enable the warrant to be preserved, the “re-founding” members have agreed that the best way to secure the future of the Lodge is to re-purpose it as a “Fishing” Lodge as angling for coarse fish was the most popular activity for the nation’s anglers, accounting for 19 million days of fishing with carp the most sought after species with an estimated 7 million days fishing time. Game anglers spent 1.6 million days fishing for salmon and trout. It necessarily follows that there is a huge opportunity to bring together established Freemasons who enjoy Fishing and of course to encourage fisherman who would be new to Freemasonry and could be the catalyst to bringing new men to the fraternity.

Our Charitable endeavours will naturally be to support the East Kent Masonic Fishing Charity, either financially or through volunteered hours from our members.

This is a great opportunity for established Freemasons with an interest in fishing, to help shape the new future of Beamish Lodge and for newly initiated Freemasons, to join the Fraternity with an underlying theme of a sport or way of life they already enjoy. Once Initiated, the opportunities for Masonic development are endless and the charitable intentions will make for a truly heart-warming feeling.
